Tool shop(s) in Embra?
Discussion
Try Murray Tools on Morrison Street (down the hill from Scottish Widows, and opposite the conference centre). Old fashioned toolshop that has just about everything. Nice kind of shop, where a lady still gets wolf whistled - I have to get my thrills somehow!
alternatively, get a Screwfix catalog - they have a warehouse at Sighthill...

Not sure about Saturdays, but there's a real old fashioned engineer's toolshop on Leith walk, across from the Boundary Bar, and a wee bit further towards Leith. Front door is on the lane round the back, so to speak...
That's Wilkinsons on Arthur St your talking about. Used them many times myself. Only place I've been to in Edinburgh that didn't take offence when I asked for a bastard rough file. Their prices seem roughly equivalent to online places for the same stuff. AFAIK they are only open during the week.
Don't like Machine Mart. I don't find even their expensive tools particularly well made. I have a bunch but only really use them for emergencies or houshold DIY.
