Christ I've procrastinated...dad's just agreed the sale of his flat. 2 months to completion.

I might have to short term rent in the..well, short term.

For the benefit of the part time Estate Agents amongst us my radar has shifted a bit.

I've really enjoyed living in Leith for the last few months (whatever some opinions on the place - there's a posh little bubble that protects the Shore ), so I'm not so set on rural locations anymore.

Balcony will substitute for garden. Off street parking (or under-flat/house) will substitute for garage.

I'm happy to take a smaller city place for a couple of years while I spend time scouting out "the dream", if that makes sense. Broadband still an absolute necessity but given im leaning towards Edinburgh anyway...

Check out Zone Letting (www.zoneletting.com), it's run by a guy called Byram, a friend of a friend. Let him know Neil & Stuart from Spectrum in Glasgow recommended him and he'll help you find a place if he can.

Neil.

Glasgow is much better, theres plenty of nice areas outwith the centre of town and the public transport isnt too bad for nichts oot. I prefer it after moving here for uni from Linlithgow. Have you had a look at Linlithgow actually? Its a commuter town with excellent motorway and railway links to both glasgow and edinburgh and theres plenty of countryside within spitting distance.

No, Spectrum Mortgage Solutions, though the ever increasing number of companies with blcensoreddy 'Spectrum' in the name results in mass confusion for clients

You`d have thought with the whole spectrum of names to choose from some folk would pick other names...

Cheers folks.

Just to clarify, I'm only intersted in Edinburgh right now (for a year or 2 at most), I'm looking to buy, but if I have to rent in the meantime, I'm after a "whole" flat or house, not just a room.

Depends on what you want to share

Nah, Edinburgh for now I think. I've surprised myself in how much I've enjoyed it, so I'm going to give it the full year or so and then re-evaluate.

Lived all round Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen and now Edinburgh - surprised myself, but Edinburgh's the best: - not too big, not too small, plenty to do.

Lookin' to sell the flat and buy a house, get the roots down firmly, n' all that!!

Hope you find a decent place.....property is still going mad-stupid pricewise though.

Graham,

Would you consider staying over the water in Dunfermline mate?

My folks own various sized houses in Dunfermline and are looking to sell a few. They just sold their own Cala house in a week when just about all nice houses went!

I actually have a 3 bedroom myself which will be ready in june.

They have a 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom. A couple are rented at the mo but im sure they would sell.

Things have gone mad over the water now that they announced a new crossing WILL go ahead so its worth thinking about in terms of long term investment.

Let me know if interested in renting/buying and ill give you their number

Cheers

Sad to say 150 doesnt buy a great deal in Edinburgh these days. Modern 2 beds in reasonable areas start from about £170k. You could probably get a nice enough 1 bed in a decent area for that budget. HTH cheers Ed

Thats why you should come over Fife way mate.

For £150k you would get either a brand new 2 or 3 bedroom house, or a decent second hand one

In Edinburgh i reckon thats prob the average flat price!!

Dunfermline is an up and coming place Alot of new developments and retail going in
