How we doing folks,

Just joined yesterday through a mate of mine Paul (CUE99T). From Glasgow and been into cars since i chomped my way into that egg 28 years ago! Mostly into supercars to be honest and wont really be happy until the bull arrives in the driveway but in the meantime I'll show you what I've got.

1st car was a Clio 16v Dimma. I've had it for 11 years now and it was actually fitted by Renault Wolverhampton unlike most others being done by bodyshops. Number 27 in production and was purchased by myself at 9 months old. The car itself is too sentimental to me to sell therefore over the years it has indeed seen many transformations. It started off being dark blue then I started doing the mods etc, as you do when you are young, colour change to Ford imperial blue, suspension, 2k leather job with Recaro speeds, blah blah blah. It went to all the shows etc then about 4 years ago, i had an accident driving down to the Isle of Man on my own. I hit a huge puddle, yes in the fast lane and aquaplaned off the motorway down a ditch and took out a stumpy tree. It ripped the front bumper in half and battered in the passenger side sill, door and roof so far as the sunroof but not damaging it. From there, the insurance money came, 12k was not bad for a 8 year old Renault clio so i then bought it back for £1800, paid £600 to get the sill and roof fixed cheaply, £30 for scrappy door and standard pish bumper. From then, it was going to be a trackcar. Stripped it out, side exit exhaust blowing flames, rollcage, buckets, harnesses etc.

Tracked the car at Knockhill and boy did that thing handle but just lacked in power. The car is now being restored properly to its original glory, new roof, £500 dimma front bumper, whole new interior etc and should be ready in a couple of months.

No pics on laptop of it at its best

An hour after the carnage

This during its trackdays (with old rear exhaust)

In garage during restoration

I then bought a Z3M roadster which i kept for a year and basically had a riot driving that thing, fabulous car, 12000 miles later and sold for a grand up, no complaints

Then was a new trackcar. I imported a 73000km Impreza WRX RA and ripped it to shreds and put in all the goodies, cage, buckets, harnesses. This things sounds like a rally car, it is just so illegal but unfortunately it does not have a 5th gear at the moment, nothing to do with my driving of course!

Picture before all the bits went inside

In August 2006, i decided i needed a new toy. I looked at Cobras and found one i liked but the seller wanted too much for it, given that it had sold years previously for 2k less but good on him, he sold it. I then visited Wales and bought a Plymouth. It is a fun car, definitely not a racer but just awesome to look at. Mint condition, 8 years old and 10000km on the clock, part of a collection hence the mileage.

To be honest, i really enjoy it. it gives me the temptation to drive which i've missed for a while.

Anyway, i'm fed up typing but i'll post more again later. Need to get some better pictures and videos of the cars.

All the best,

Matthew

I would have thought the Subaru would be faster but then again its a completely different feel for accelleration with the turbo. The Plymouth is a 3.5 V6 with 4 speed auto transmission and does 60mph in 1st gear, crazy.

It was a pretty awesome tow up to knockhill, cant say it went down well in the MPG though!!

Sorry, it was a joking reference to the fact it was attached via the trailer..

Always thought Prowlers deserved twice the horsepower they were given! The guy I bought my Viper from bought a Prowler next. And I thought the Viper had little luggage space eek

Hi Hamish,

Any pics of this Viper as i was seriously considering them but had a budget to stick to and didnt like the fact i wouldnt have side windows etc on it and it would be the earliest dashbord.

The Plymouth has no luggage space whatsoever, none hence the trailer which at the end of the day would come in real handy on a trip away. Never use it really.

Having a bigger engine would be great but in reality i dont think the car would be drivable to be honest as its difficult enough in the wet as it is. A V8 would look and sound great but I just couldnt see it. Apparently there is a place in the states that does them and then calls the car a Growler.

Mattymouse - I seem to remember seeing the Dimma Clio spinning at the bottom of university avenue (just outside the GUU), would have been in a while ago (the late 90's (I have a good memory for cars - and its a pretty destinctive clio)). Was it yourself who was driving?

Cheers

No way did you see that! NO WAY!!!!

Yes it was me, i was 17 at the time and drove down to the corner far too quick, dabbed the brake and the back went out. The car mounted the pavement and slid along with the front bumper just missing the wall. I was such an idiot but i learned from that as i was so lucky i didnt hit anybody. People were screaming and all sorts, it was just nuts.

I got out, checked the bumper, jumped back in and slowly drove around the corner to park up and gather my thoughts.

I do admit it was really silly but lesson learned. I have never had an accident in my life apart from the aquaplane on the motorway which again involved the clio.

I'm astounded you saw that as I've never met anyone who did.

Regards

Matthew

eek at the above!

Following on from the post in F,M+L matt, the exige is mine and the MCoupe is my dads, seriously quick car, its cool to get the use of it sometimes but TBH I prefer the exige as it suits me better. Yeah I know Sarah who has the white one, I sold her some furniture actually a few months back.

I think the guy we bought the V6 off lived at the harbour for a bit, so it is the same car. Small world.

It is that. I'm good friends with Andy, Sarah Janes brother. The exige is an awesome car as we took theirs around Knockhill and I couldnt believe the handling. Just had the edge on him with the scooby though but only just.

So thats quite a nice little driveway eh, thats what i like to see. I think the guys name who owned the V6 was Craig. My neighbour and Andy knew of him but I'd never met the dude.

I'm right into interior design, where do you work if you sell furniture if you dont mind me asking?

Brilliant, you need to come down to mine and see if you can help us. Got a P'house at the H'bour, so much potential so it would be interesting to see what you think would be possible.

Back at w'ends, will send you a PM with my details.

Matthew

PS. We use to own no.5 and 7 Lyndoch Street until a few years back, been turned into flats now, just around the corner from you and boy did that place need a lot of work, owned it since 88 so the profit was there!
