I'm sure there is no miracle cure/solution, but some friendly person assisted cleaning ice off my window this morning only to put 6 long scratches down the drivers side of the windscreen - any 'repair' or improvement ideas anyone??

A mate works for Pilkington Glass and he gave me some very fine powder that you gently rub into glass to remove scratches - there is a very good chance that Halfords would sell an equiv?

If not, someone should market it and make a fortune.

If not check with some of the jewelry shops/antique restoration places (not a reference to the car or owner!!!) in ABZ - I think what GC is referring to is called "Jewellers Rouge".

Most insurance policies will include windscreen cover, and the companies can often "repair" stone chips etc without affecting your no claims, or the £50 windscreen excess.

I remember that they inject some sort of resin into the hole, and then polish it all smooth again. In your case they may just be able to do the polishing bit. Might be worth the cost of a phone call to find out.

Use toothpast on a cloth with a little water and fallow the line of the scratch. Not only does it get rid of the scratches but gives the car a nice smile! Yes it does work.
