Formerly graham@Reading, just moved to Edinburgh to my dad's flat in Leith while I look for a new pad somewhere in Scotland. Dunno where yet - only need broadband for work and be within an hour or so of a decent airport (so Glasgow, Edinburgh or Inverness really).

Thought I'd say 'ello

Pffft...go take a photo

Dan - ta, but will be after freehold, garden & garage. The BB & proximity to airport are needed for work, those three are needed for me

Nice one - Hope you settle in OK.

Are you near La Favorita (Italian Restaurant)- usually go there for grub before the footy.

Cheers

Aberdeen has an airport as well with a few more international flights than Inverness. www.aspc.co.uk for property, likely to be slightly cheaper than Edinburgh, though not as cheap as Inverness.

Could pick somewhere in the middle near Perth, and then you have the choice of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness airports all within an hour (+/-20 minutes)

You'll need John's car and probably nitros to get you to Inverness Airport in that time, (120+ miles from Perth) and if you make it, you should expect several NIPs - the A9 is scamera central.

Quite true, I tend to avoid the A9 at all costs, so forget how long it can take as most of it is 60mph max (if you are lucky!)

Probably somewhere a bit further north like Pitlochry would be more "central" too all 4 airports, and despite it being a cracking road to drive along, the Glenshee - Braemaer - Aberdeen route would most likely take a good 90 minutes, or 3 hours via the main roads if the Glenshee road is closed due to snow.

It depends if Graham wants a 60 minute drive through heavy traffic, or if a 90 minute drive on some of the best scenic roads in the UK would be perfectly acceptable

The latter, definitely

Nicholas - no idea. I'm in Leith opposite Ocean Terminal at the moment (7th floor penthouse overlooking Britannia no less :swank: )

Hi Graham & welcome,

As a slightly different approach what about -

www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-5773503.rsp/svr/1020;jsessionid=BC687A594A510AADAAA3FE0E9C872EDB

or

www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-6234177.rsp?pa_n=4&tr_t=buy

Arrochar to Glasgow airport takes about 50mins and what a drive along the lochside.

The bonus is:

1. Nowhere near the east coast .
2. You're on the doorstep of arguably the best driving roads in Scotland.
3. I've yet to see a scamera NW of Glasgow.

Or a bit closer and Helensburgh to Glasgow is about 45 minutes and is a lovely town (lived there for nigh on 10 years).

I will be near there tomorrow evening for dinner with friends. It is a great area for a combination of city culture and amenities and a small town feel.

My cousin lives near there - a cream flat block with green balconies - that you? Can't remember the name of the place. . .

Hope you get settled in and stuck into the activites to be relished in Scotland (which usually involve getting wet, cold and chapped hands around the knuckles and finger nails - however the last part may just be me!).

Cheers,
Iain

PS - that Norwegian hand cream works a treat!
