Car transporter
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I need to pick up the fibreglass bodyshell for the cobra i am building.
The bodyshell has to be picked up from Brighton and taken to Aberdeen.
Any suggestions for this.
I guess the cheapest is for me to drive down/back with a trailer. but(1K+ miles @22hrs) doesnt sound much fun. (the haulage company for the kit want £600)
Anbody used haulage firms/car transporter services.
I am willing to pay for delivery to Scotland and then pick it up.
Cheers
Jim

I got my Ultima delivered in 2 trips from Leicester to Banchory - local haulage firm charged only £320 per trip - that was 2 years ago but still incredibly cheap. I think £600 from Brighton is not too bad but might be worth checking yell.co.uk for alternative delivey firms in Brighton region. Will pay you to get as many components as possible in the one delivery.
Better than a trailer might be to rent a big transit type van if you fancy collecting yourself, but its some trek and cost of hire, fuel, motorway food etc will start getting up there.
Penalty we pay for living up here, but still worth it.

Yes I was going to say that 600 did not seem bad. And of course you have the additional benefit that if the vendor is delivering it is his resposibility to get it to you undamaged and in good order. If a third party is delivering then it becomes more difficult with the "thats the condition it was in when I collected it" syndrome. Just my tuppence worth.

I can help you out if you wish. I used to have an srv8 with a 440bhp Ford 351 in it and am a car nut that is momentarily short of cash. I have an Ifor Williams twin wheel solid base open trailer and all the correct tie downs etc and have transported many personal cars/projects all over the country with my shogun v6.
The trip for me is 1200 miles i reckon and about 24 hours driving. The fuel alone is quite a wad and the need to stop over at least 1 night, probably two. I can do it for £500 all in. Give me a call if you wish 07921436513. I can do paypal if you are worried about security etc. i can do 50% up front payment with 50% on delivery, unloading and 100% satisfaction.
I could probably do it mid december.
cheers,
