Alright gents, new to the site, a 306 Rallye driver from Aberdeen. Looking for some advice, I'm trying to break into the offshore industry in Aberdeen, i'm 24 and have a degree (not in engineering or anything related) ; any advice for the best way forward? I have no idea where to start looking or who to ask.
Cheers, any thing much appreciated.

All the service companies are looking for offshore hands at the moment.
If you where to pay your way through your offshore survival & training your employment prospects would be greater.
Take a look at www.oilcareers.com for any job adds, always lots on there.

Worth just sending out a CV with covering letter to any of the service companies though : Baker Hughes / Schlumberger / Halliburton.

What about working for Sparrows ? you could go get kidnapped in Nigeria !

I'm just approaching the end of my first week training at Schlumberger as a Drilling Specialist. It's an offshore position, but I'm training in Dyce.

If you fill out their online application form online at www.slb.com you'll prob hear back pretty quickly, I did anyway. They're recruiting like crazy just now, so you could end up getting started pretty sharpish if you feel it's what you want.

It's interesting stuff, and the pay is good.

What is your degree in? I have one in Geology and landed a job with Halliburton. Plenty of jobs out there just carpet bomb the service companies and keep pestering. Good luck mate.
