Its me and girlfriends 3 year anniversary so need a nice getaway for this weekend. Romantical-ness not a prerequisite but would be useful, just after somewhere within 3 hours of Glasgow by car that we can have a nice weekend away at.

Hilton Coylumbridge is out because we're there fairly frequently so wouldnt be unique enough. But thats in the ball park of the budgetry limits (I wana get laid, not bankrupt hehe)

Any suggestions?

I have the perfect place... absolutely stunning hotel with great food and surprisingly cheap. 45 mins from Glasgow - but set in about 40 acres it feels very remote. HUGE rooms (most are suites - I think they automatically upgrade if the place isn't full)

Cromlix House is lovely, I was there for a wedding a few years ago and was thoroughly taken with the place - beautiful setting and a lovely hotel. Food was excellent too.

Cheers for the suggestions folks, ended up going with a place my father suggested, Loch Rannoch.

Onich had no availability for what I needed and Cromlix House's website seems to disagree severely with the computer here at work confused

If you are looking another time, try Kinnaird House on the way to Pitlochry (www.kinnairdestate.com). Cromlix is good, but Kinnaird is very, very special...

Looks to be very nice, however, a touch mature for myself and missus. I'm 24, she's 20. Pork pie at a jewish wedding kind of sums up how well we'd fit in I fear.

I see you are already sorted but worth trying the following next time;

www.craigatinhouse.co.uk/ (surprisingly good boutique B*B and good value)
www.leragshouse.com/ (superb food and peace/quiet)
www.summerisleshotel.co.uk/ (treat location and Michelen star quality food)

Plenty of quality road recommendations on this forum to boot!

Heard it's good but pricey!!!

For next time try Glengarry Castle Hotel www.glengarry.net/index.php

Rooms are a bit "shabby chic" but it's in a lovely location and the food and service are fantastic!

(Bit late to the thread)

Second that, been there a couple of times, not a huge distance to travel but wonderfully isolated.
Slightly cheaper rooms in the outhouse (not the backpackers dormitory), and a short stagger from the fantastic restaurant and bar.

You can do worse than The Witchery in Edinburgh's Royal Mile. Decent restaurant too....
