Manor House in Oban.
Top top food, a view over the Esplanade and some of the very best roads around in all directions!

Kinloch Lodge, Skye. Stunning views, great roads all the way there and back. And a fantastic place to stay. Had my 40th there, organised by Jane, just brilliant.

Loads of places! Try

www.theoldinn.net/ (North)

www.pierhousehotel.co.uk/ (Middle)

www.applecross.uk.com/inn/ (You want roads...?!)

www.hotelreviewscotland.com/default.asp (loads and loads of reviews)

It's all good. The further north and west you go, the better it gets. Have a wonderful time!

If you do go to Torridon, will you be in the Cobra? - I'm in either a grey defender or black Aston. I'll watch out for you.

Hello Steve,
I won't be in the Cobra as I sold it here on pistonheads about 1 month ago,so I will be in the c36.I would have loved to drive Scotland in the Cobra but it will be next summer before I have a new one so this trip will be a "feeler" for next year.
thanks David.

Always thought that one of the greatest attractions of the West Coast, especially in the "off" season was the opportunity to get accomodation in places that you may not have thought of. Go, drive, see where you end up with good roads then look for somewhere to stay. No need to restrict yourself by booking ahead. Take it on the lam. Even places that you don't see in the tourist guides can give you good food and accomodation. just go for it.

...and if your work allows, this does have the advantage that you can wait for some decent weather!

David,

Some great ideas in "last minute romantic break" posted by miniandy

the one I posted in it was

www.cathairdhubh.co.uk/

have a good look at the site and stuff associated with the area

Its a brilliant drive up to it - that road over to the "Black Isle" and up to Ullapoll is awsome

And the drive from main road in Lochinver to the cottages is like a rally stage (it is tarmaced etc ..what I mean is the turns and drops etc)

- Private beach nearby

- Secluded

- Views right over to the Western Isles from the bedrooms

- Total darkness at nigh (no light polution)

- All self catering, but Lochinver Village, and hotel and pub nearby (Not that youd get a chance to have a drink because of the drive back to the cottages...trust me not even one with those roads)

- All of the best of gear in the cottages

- and they will even arrange welcome packs etc ..just tell them what you want

Hope you enjoy if you go...

Iain
