Trackday action from Knockhill
Discussion
good morning folks, hey chimune, well it was quite an exciting experience to say the least, was VERY close to smashing into the tyre wall, luckily enough the car went off sideyways and the gravel made the wheels dig in and came to a stop pretty quickly,
the two drivers side wheels are now ( not noticable till close up ) covered in small stonechips, and the front drivers side of the bumper about a couple of inches on stonechips where the gravel piled up infront of the car, to be honest it was great fun, and needed the front end re-sprayed anyway so its now top of my winter list of things to do to the car,
had great fun at knockhill, the weather was stunning and the car was great, much better on the nitrons too now!
wet myself the first time the ultima screamed past, amazing machine!!!

Yes, the Ultima wasa cross between a Panoz and a Corvette for noise value. From what I saw when it was towed off it had a clutch problem - anyone know whether it went back on again.
I'd leave your respray for a while Grahamm - from the look of it you'll be on track quite a lot from now on - could get expensive if you touch up every month!!
Car is off to have the body slots opened to the wheel arches on the 21st, just after Croft. Should be back for 6th October, possibly a day or two earleir if all goes well. I'll see what the time is like a bit closer to the day on the SIDC one, but hope to be there and on track.

Simon,
Thanks for the fuel, appreciated it as it let me have another session. I do have a Chimaera boot shaped bruise on the side of my head now after eagerly diving in to get the can.
The black 911 was beautiful, but nearly not so nice when he locked up and went straight on at Mcintyres near the end. I think he went through the gravel but escaped unscathed. I was right behind him at the time and thought he was trying a bit hard.
I keep trying to tell Rossybee that his line out of the hairpin is all wrong, and that the "front" of the car is supposed to be facing up the hill after the apex. Will he learn ?

Unfortunately the Ultima did not recover from the "clutch failure", but I really enjoyed almost a hour of blasting round. Haven't taken the gearbox off yet, to ascertain the exact reason, as I have to finish some building work around the house for the wife, but I suspect the friction plates may have collapsed. Have to say the behaviour on track was the best I've seen for ages and the weather made it a superb day if rather short for me.

Tim, it was a delight to see and hear the car - brought back vivid memories of Le Mans sounds. Hope the fix is an easy one, and look forward to being on track with you at some time.

Thanks again for the pax Ross !
More than welcome Simon
Cracking day indeed, the Snot was performing nicely, although that black 996 Turbo wasn't for letting me by on the straights and seemed oblivious to how much he was holding me up on the twisties....
And that was going backwards, you'd have screamed past him if you stuck with the car the right way around.....

Gotta give others a chance, eh?

There's a few minutes of video from when the car was going well on the PH tv section, hopefully a some of you will be able to spot your cars as well. Tim
Tim, the car sounded gorgeous
You only caught me on vid at the 22 sec mark (heard me too, but a K series at 8000rpm isn't quite in the same league as a Detroit V8 )
