Last minute secluded romantic accommodation

I'm looking to find somewhere in Scotland (not bothered where) to take my girlfriend for a weekend or a short break. Can anyone suggest anywhere that meets the above criteria? I don't want to be in a city, I don't mind driving, I would like luxury, I don't mind B&B/guest house, max 150 quid per night. Something unique might be fun, like a light house, as long as I don't have to share it. Ideally in the middle of nowhere. Oh, and leaving this weekend!

Unless you can get to Harris (Rodel Hotel... as remote as you'll get and stunning food - but ferries and stuff may thwart you in August)

Weekends would be quite booked up but they may have some short breaks.

I have been there for the last few years and my parents go there quite often for New Years. It really fits the bill and the standard rooms fit the price

My parents have Dunvalanree. My mum's second cousin has the Rodell one on Harris recommended above. But we're better. ;-)

We are a four star small hotel, which looks out onto the Kilbrannen sound, across to Arran.

It's a great place for a romantic weekend, as we are ideally suited for the needs of couples on a short break. An extensive wine list, fantastic food.

Take a look at Trip Advisor, ignoring the obvious three by some wierdos (who have done this to other hotels around the country).

If you don't mind an interesting drive, then you will enjoy getting here. You have the official 'Long and Winding Road,' we are on Kintyre, where Paul McCartney has also written about in another song. I love the drive down here, it's keeps you awake, it's empty and very scenic.

Try Monachyle Mhor - www.monachylemhor.com. Tom the owner is a "celebrity" chef and car nut. Around £160 per night , and £44 per head for one of the greatest meals you are ever likely to have. Very special place at the end of a glen, and great roads everywhere. You could also hire the car of your dreams (if you don't already own it) from www.rioprestige.com

Edward - I'd love to hire the car of my dreams, even for an afternoon. However your minimum age limit restricts me a tad as I'm 22. If there's another way...

The Clachaig is a bit rough and ready - or was last time I was there - and full of climbers, but you can't fault the location. In the good old days you used to be able to camp there.....

You can still camp there as long as you are over the fence from there grass, do it regularly.
The atmosphere in there is fantastic and the food is very good for pub grub but not cheap.
Don't know if it suits as a romantic destination though? Although you could take her up the lost valley (no euphonism intended) as that can be spectacular and a very peacful.

Damn good driving all around though.

I was on the weekend special 2 weeks ago and it was great. They have 2 suites that are little bit more but have a living/sleeping area and spa bath etc

I know it because I did the website a few years ago...

i can't rate the place highly enough, fairly secluded small friendly run b&b, with the most excellent food breakfast was the likes of scrambled egg and blackpudding with fresh smoked salmon on top.
not far from many hills to climb or places like oban and mull to visit.
and the most breathtaking bit, the view in the morning!! this was taken from the private terrass outside our room.
you are litteraly 2metres away from the edge of the loch.


make sure you get the garden room though as its basically a suite, with a seperate terrass and four poster bed and all that romantic p*sh.

I know you will have probably have been by now...but for the benefit of anyone else looking for somewhere to go.

Its a brilliant drive up to it, the drive from main road to the cottages is like a rally stage (it is tarmaced etc ..what I mean is the turns and drops etc)

- Private beach nearby

- Secluded

- Views right over to the Western Isles from the bedrooms

- Total darkness at nigh (no light polution)

- All self catering, but Lochinver Village, and hotel and pub nearby (Not that youd get a chance to have a drink because of the drive back to the cottages...trust me not even one with those roads)

- All of the best of gear in the cottages

- and they will even arrange welcome packs etc ..just tell them what you want

- Amazing scenery and beautifull drives
