Hi Iain,
Pics look very good, thanks again for my pics
The yellow and blue sierra is owned by Alan Gunn, he also has an older Mk1 Ecsort which is hugely fast!,
The 205 Mi16 was also very quick, probably one of the quickest cars on the straights. The owner also had a yellow evo there, lucky guy that he gets to choose between those two!
The buggy was, if i remember correctly, a rage buggy. They are banned from the Top Marques evenings as apparently a few guys put in complaints about them being too fast and found them intimidating. They also had the cars at one of the MPH shows with Clarkson and Co. The stig drove one of them in a stunt show, had a little ding in it as well! apparently the stig at the show was Russ Swifts son.
The guy in the 911 Turbo offered to take me out for a few laps as a passenger, but never got round to it ! DOH!!!
Cheers
Stuart
P.S any closer to deciding which SLR to get?

Erm. . .
No, not really!!
I think the Nikon D50 looks to be the one to go for, mainly because it is around £100 cheaper than the EOS 350D. In fact, that's the only reason. If the rumours are true about tomorrow's announcement from Nikon and Canon's September announcement, then that could yet change. But at the moment, I'd say it's the Nikon D50.
I really need to see them in the flesh, and play around with them, but I hope to make a decision soon. Maybe I should sell some pictures to raise funds!!
I prefer the feel of the Nikon to the Cannon, I think the Cannon feels a bit toy'ish. However, I do think the Cannon produces more vibrant images. Nikons can be a bit tricky to get the exposure correct, my D70 definately under exposes by default. If you do go for the Nikon avoid the Nikon 28-80mm 1:3.3-5.6 G lense, its what I got when I got the camera and the images from it are nowhere near sharp enough. The lense I use at trackdays is the Nikon 70-300 1:4-5.6G. I think it is decent enough. What you dont want to do is get a good Nikon body then scrimp on the lenses you put on, definately get the best you can afford.

If its the same buggy I seen on track they were probably banned for getting in the bloody way
Skip to 2min 20 secs in for some interesting lines
Myself and my mate use D50's. They have more than payed for themselves in the 7 months our website has been running. We use the 70-300 G lens too, very basic and gets slated in the consumer mags but its making money so why change. Saying that we are saving up for some better lens for next year, see how the images improve. They'd bloody better at the price they charge for quality lens!!

Hi Col,
Have you tried out any other zoom lenses?,
I quite fancy a new zoom lense, but like you said they can quickly get upto silly money, and i'm note sure if its worth the extra £££s.
Idealy, i'd like something like the Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D VR, but It would have to be excellent quality to warrant the price.
The 70-300G is fine for a starter lense, and I would recommend it, but I think you will quickly want to get something better.

If I am around at a trackday feel free to ask for a shot of my D50 to see how you like it. I have had no problem or complaints at all.

Agreed Kenny, the only thing intimidating about them is they look like they're about to roll in front of you.
I doubt very much a car has ever been banned from Hot Marques for being too fast. Dangerous/badly driven maybe...
