I was out for a meal in town last night (Royal China, Holburn, big thumbs up) and I was heartened to see the number of petrolheads on the go.

Cars I spotted last night:
Blue Gallardo moseying down Union Street.
Blue 06 reg Exige
Dark green, tide, almost Cal-look, Beetle
Green, standard, Sunbeam Stiletto with for sale stickers in it (oh, to buy and put a 'bike engine in it.....)
Gareth's 135R,
red Chimaera,
various MGBs and classic stuff like that,
and,
fanfare please,
a black 997 Turbo (are they on sale or would this be a press car?)

Apart from that, there were countless MX5s, MR2s, and the like.

Good to see that there's a lot of folk on the go who appreciate cars and that its not all lentilistas extolling the virtues of buses. Just as good was seeing how everytime a nice car passed, pedestrians would stop and stare. It's not just Italy that has car fans!

::edited:: with regard to your other post, have you tried Overton - maybe they'll be away to pick up a car from England and would be able to take your one down?

T&C have a blue 997 Turbot as a demo I think already, Its rather nice.

There is a black 997 knocking about abz but its just* a regular 997 with a full aerokit etc. (*he says just! like I wouldnt have it) This might have been the one you saw?

Richard, Glad the Sagaris has got a replacement already.

Aberdeen appeared to be Porsche city a while ago, looks like the inhabitants are diversifying a bit

Unlike the video...
(Note, passenger holding video camera does not smooth footage make.)

Best noise of the day went to the Corvette.

With regard to the camera work, the gentleman is quite correct in that it was, to use the technical term, pish.

However, he fails to mention that trying to hold a camera steady, yourself in the seat (even with harnesses) and a hastily consumed ice cream and bottle of juice in your stomach, whilst the man next to you is exploring just how much grip an Exige has, is not an easy task!!

Haha!

However, I have to say, it was fun!

The Corvette made a mighty noise - why can't more cars have V8s?

Thanks again,
J

Hi Guys,
I didn't make it to the Alford show, being as ever, stuck in Moscow, when I should be driving my car, but can you tell me what model of Corvette it was and who it belonged to?

dunno who owned it but it was silver, S-reg plates on. I guess that makes it a C5?

You did indeed see the new 997 turbo. The car was the first customers car delivered after the launch on 24th Jun. The car belongs to a well known pub and club owner and is fitted with additional 20in black alloys. I had a look at it in detail and it is a very nice motor.

Hi guys, nice to meet some of you, I was responsible for the noisy vette, V8s just have to be heard ;-). The sound of the Elise's and the Exige was marvellous really impressed with the amout of grip they have!!. Unfortunately Alford track is not quite big enough to completely open the taps, but a great laugh.

Also well down to the Minis, great to see them getting the berries round the track!

Cheers

Keith

Scary - it was written off. Damage didn't look that bad from the photos. Glad we got ours back from you OK.

Cheeky!!
Having the Blue 06 'Gris certainly let me back down to earth slowly, thanks for that, then eased into the Chim.
Replacement 05 Chameleon Orange on the way to Hexham as we speak.
Been bimbling around in the Chimaera. Or that's what you think until you check the speedo - amazing what that car does. V pleasant V8 roar, but looking forward to having the S6 howl back again!!

Hey. I landed a job in Aberdeen today! With Schlumberger. So I'll be joining all you guys before long.

rpa.janwell, I'm the guy who came up to speak to you on the ferry back from Le Mans, just as we were docking.
