Some pics from tonight,

The first Hot Marques night I have been to, some fantastic cars. GT3 RS, 993 Turbo, 996 GT3, Ferrari, Exige etc

I thought it was for cars over £10k only but seen a couple of old Hot Hatches, can anyone get on at these nights? I would have liked to have taken my car on track.

Will upload some more later when I have time

Hi Iain,

Thanks for the comment

I use a Nikon D70, 70-400mm lense.

Do you goto a lot of Trackdays? I was on track in my car about a month ago in the GMSC track night. I am trying to find someone with any pics of my car ? I spoke to someone last night from power-images.co.uk but they dont appear to have been at the track night. Or if they were it's not on their site

1. the red golf that was on track looked seriously quick in a straight line, anyone know whats been done to it?
2. there is a blue rx8 in the area opposite the kart track, looks like its been rolled, anyone know the story?

Have all your trackdays been in Scotland? I've had my camera at dozens of trackdays, but all in England.

I was there in one of the blue Exiges. Answers:

- the 'hot hatches' were probably pretty heavily modified - but I'm not sure how carefully the £10K rule is enforced. I think it just allows them to exclude anyone they don't like the look of! But the worst driving I've ever seen was the Boxster with the roof down - completely incompetent.......

- the Golf was quick in a straight line - not sure why - but slow in the twisties

- the RX8 must have rolled going down Duffus and ended up upside down at the foot - it happens if you get it wrong at the top! Was well driven earlier. Hope driver OK but did not seem to be any panic - session closed early as a result.

I seen that boxster, the Marshall at Clarkes was waving at him every lap to move over and let cars past. I think he was completely ignoring him, at some points he was going VERY slowly. Then when I did see him going quick through Clarkes he almost ended up in the tyres!!!

Stuart,

Last night's trackday was the first trackday I've been to at KH but I'll definately be going to the next TM (or other) trackdays - I was very impressed.

I'll post a selection of my pictures later, but I have one question - how do you get your borders around the pictures through Photoshop? I know there's a way to do it, but I just can't remember.

Sorry to hear about the RX-8 - did'nt know it was that serious an accident!

Iain,

Once you have your pic resized, if you goto menu item Image > Canvas Size then set it to Pixels. You can enter how thick you want the border. On the same screen you can set what colour to make it.

For my pics I use Image > Canvas Size, +20 pixels on width and height colour white, then Image > Canvas Size, +100 width & height colour black.

Make sure Anchor is in the middle, this will show as arrows pointing out from the center of the 9 squares. Also make sure "Relative" is ticked.

Hope this helps,

Stuart

Some pics over on the SIDC forums, photographer was in the right place at the right time

I don't think the 10K value thing is enforced as strictly as maybe it once was, I've been told that it's more to prevent the Nova brigade mixing it up with the Elises/Porsches etc. If you've ever been to a Hot Hatch day you'll understand why

Oh, and if it's the red Mk2 Golf, I believe it's got a 1.8T engine with something like 280bhp...

My pictures -

I didn't have that much time at the circuit - we were held up on the Forth Road Bridge and it didn't help that my father had left his wallet (unknowingly) at home and couldn't pay at the petrol station....after we had filled up with petrol...

Seriously impressed the that photographer kept snapping away with the RX coming towards him...

Not nice to see folks PAJs getting bashed up though. At least there were no other cars involved. Hope the bloke was insured.

Hi Guys

Red Golf is mine. Details on www.fastvwgolf.co.uk

Fast in a straight line 'cause it's got the power and torque to pull it's miserly 1050kg. Slow on the twisties 'cause it's on road tyres and I want to take it home in one piece!

The car isn't worth £10k but has an agreed value close to that. Driven at K'hill for a few years (used to drive an orange Golf at Hot Hatch days) and know Sasha, Ian and Jillian. They're happy to let guys 'like me' on ie they know I take pride in my car and don't want to bend it and that I drive with consideration for others.

The Boxster (only one I think?) was driven by Matt from Peugeot Ecosse. It's his wife's car. He normally drives a 405 T16 on slicks.

Come and say hello next time you see ma at the track.

Cheers

Thanks for info. Will look out for you at Knockhill.

Were several Boxsters - I reckon the badly driven one could not be the person you mention - it was out for only a short time driven by someone who ignored the briefings, ignored the cones for turn-in etc, was right off the track at Clark's and and whose passenger was waving around a hand-held video camera - so black flag came out.
