Quick update - it's confirmed as a heart attack - - middle ranking I gather - not minor but not major either. He's in Stirling Royal Infirmary Coronary unit but may be moved onto cardiology ward if bed is required - which in itself is good news I think. Will be in til weekend so no Golspie for us - we didn't have entries so aren't freeing up any space I'm afraid but were coming up for blether. However look for Mother Hen and her charge at Doune ...
Altho not possible to identify definite cause, feelings are it may have been triggered by low blood count - he's been getting very tired and breathless which we've put down to stress at all thats going on cum resurgence of asthma with advancing years. Certainly a blood transfusion has made him look a lot better, tho he's not looking totally forward to the heart guys saying he's fitter as then the gastro people comer along and want to insert tubes to see what's going on inside to identify why the blood count drop ...
I'm sending out email updates on his progress - if anyone wants included just email me.

Thanks guys - latest (sat night) is he is still in hospital, hoping to be discharged Monday - slightly concerning that blood count is dropping again - just under 100 which is where he was post transfusion, but see what tomorrow's vampire's efforts bring forth and keep fingers et al crossed Nina
Hi all - David here.
I did not escape from Stirling Royal Infirmary on Monday as planned, on account of my blood doing a runner again - the perplexing thing was that none of the medics seemed to know where it was going....
Anyway, after a further transfusion on Sunday, they stuck a camera down me and found a rather large ulcer - this they think was the root cause of the blood loss, but which now appears to be healing. Blood levels were stable on Thursday, so they sent me home. It is going to be a long haul back to full fitness, but that is the plan - both mine and the hospital's, so I am in good hands. Once the ulcer is cleared I have interesting things like an angiogram (and potentially angioplast)to look forward to, so I ain't going back to work for a bit - but I do hope to get to a few events and see a few speed event buddies later in the year.
Thanks to everyone who has been in touch, and I will see you very soon.
David.
