Sorry for the persistent bugging questions

Just one more - I have been googleing for this for a while and cannot seem to get a straight answer. is it legal just to pitch a tent in the deep highlands or is it a hanging offence?

Cheers

According to the new access laws is it is fine as long as the land is not private or has a conservation order. There is a site dedicated to the new access laws but I am not using my mac just now so I do not have the links.
Try searching for the access guidelines.
Where are you thinking of going? There are bothies available as well remember.
I plan to do a long weekend away with a few friends using random tent pitching, fishing rod and bothies.

May / June time. I know its a touristy time of year which is why I will be trying to randomly pitch up away from the tourist areas if possible. Doing some reasearch now...

Remember the Midges start at the end of May in the west.
