evo McCOTY - I know that road!
Discussion
I just got my evo magazine yesterday, been away working, and was amazed to see one of my favourite driving routes as the location for the real world test.
I have a few photos of the section where the group shot was done, strangely nowhere near as good pics or car content.
Truly is a great area to drive and not difficult to get to. Most of ti can be done enthusiastically at or below the NSL (some hig speed possibilites also).
Anyone else recognise it all?

The leadhills.
The big group photo's just in from on the hill we used to slide down on bin bags back in the day
Always thought the leadhills would be an ace place for a mag: empty , great roads and not too far over the border for the SE based ones.
I had wondered exactly where the evo route had gone, had thought it looked a bit like the A72/A721 west out of Peebles (another great drivers road). Don't know the Leadhills area at all, although I quite often use the A702 the other side of the M74 when heading south, another great road. I'll certainly be exploring the Leadhills area when spring comes around!
Anyone else notice in the long term article on the Range Rover Sport, in the picture it's heading round Knockhill the wrong way?!

The leadhills area is great, you don't need to drive fast to enjoy. As you can see in the photos a lot of the roads have short fence posts beside them and it makes you feel like you are going a lot faster. There is great mix of corners, cambers, peaks and dips. You can also nip into Lanark or Abbington for a wander to keep any passengers happy.
The A721 is excellent as well as you say. We recently did a camping trip and drove that and the road from Hawick to moffat. WOW.
RE: the Range Rover, maybe they were seeing if you could drive the Caterham clean under it?
