Track Days in the North East
Discussion
There is the Grampian Transport Museum at Alford, which is used for sprint events and club days. I think the TVR club hire the circuit for a day every year (possibly with the MG owners ?). OK, it's just an oval/figure of 8 layout and one car at a time, but it's goo, clean, cheap fun.
There's also Crail which you can use, but the surface can be abrasive in places.

Thanks gents - might give Afford a try I have seen Kiltie's videos of the 7 round there and it does look like fun.
I spoke to Stuart Milne ex region head of the TVR club and he did mention the joint meet with the MG owners. I'll need a fair bit of practice before I do the run in public though.

I'm going to get a few folk up to Alford one morning in January so you could easy come along to that. Me and my mates just wander up with our cars and have a thrash round - I might take my 200SX if its finished....
It'll be done pretty short notice (due to weather) but I'll post up nearer the time - probs be a Thursday or Friday morning.
Alford have few rules - pay £30 (we split it 5 ways last time) and you've got the track between 10am and 11am. Apart from that, any crashes etc are totally your own problem and only one car on the track at any one time.

What's the scoop on hiring Alford - can anyone go to the transport museum, pay their £30 and have an hour on track or is this only available for clubs etc?
The track is a bit tight, but should be good fun at that price. Been contemplating a go at the Sprint, and a wee test session could just make up my mind one way or another!
And I've heard the Edzell run what ya brung can be entertaining despite lack of corners. Will give it a go in New Year.

Aye, think you just phone ahead to check its free and then turn up - that's what we've always done.
Edzell is ok, (better than Crail if you stick to the centre of the track) but the return road is the best bit by far - wouldn't fancy it in the Ultima, nor my Elise though - too rough and gravelly. My mate's Scoob was fun though.

No need to make up your mind, just decide to do it and regard the test session as practice
I am hoping to hire Alford sometime in Feb, assuming the winter mods are complete by then the plan is to share with Kiltie, could be a three way share !
