Hi folks,

There's to be a meeting this weekend of representatives of the various clubs involved in the PR Highland Speed Championship. There are various items on the agenda including all those on the questionnaire sent out with the results. As I hope to attend the meeting:-

1. Are there any issues you wish raised?

(NB (i)Comments can be e-mailed to jpandmo@yahoo.co.uk rather than posted on this public forum (ii) Comments on Eric's "too quiet in here.." thread are noted.)

2. If anyone hasn't returned questionnaires they can be faxed to me on 01224 639658

Cheers

JP

I made a couple of suggestions on the questionnaire, one regarding restructuring the road sport classes is on Eric thread, the other was that championship entrants should get priority at oversubscribed events.

No entries accepted until such time as the closing date is reached, then championship contenders get priority followed by others on an as received basis.

Would appreciate if this was at least considered.

A reg I'd like to see introduced is that nobody with the surname 'Coghill' or 'Rae' should be allowed to compete.

Maybe have a think about how class amalgamations are worked out. Not wanting to bleat but merging A8 in with A4&A5 meant it was a totally meaningless championship for me. Surely only merge the minimum of classes.

How about a points system based on time (same system as sprints?), you could even use the sprint results which would cut down on admin. I don't want to have a go at anyone but the admin side was very poor, the results when they did come out had errors all over the place.

Cheers,
Ali

John,

Sorry my only reply to this was a facetious one.

The biggest change I'd like to see is the change to the class structure suggested by Murray in the other thread i.e. ...

Up to 1000 or 1100 bike and up to 1700 car engined.
Over 1000 or 1100 bike and over 1700 car engined.

... now, I've been reluctant to actually suggest this in the past because it's clear that I would be one of the biggest beneficiaries.

However, if you study the times and results, it doesn't take long to see that there are certain classes which are completely dominated by certain cars / people (and mine is one of these).

Now, I'm still at the stage of enjoying competing and being satisfied with seeing PB's rather than getting the occasional trophy (and I have zero aspirations toward any championship results). The fact is though, if individuals are in a class that they have absolutely no chance of ever getting a prize, they'll drift away from the sport.

I've thought about a points structure which would award additional points for a PB but I can't think of a way it would work.

Finally, the HSC amalgamation of classes A4,A5&A8 wasn't right.

Cheers,

Eric

Yep.

But better wait until the new regs drafted and agreed by the various reps. rather than "spill the beans" on this forum

JP

NB 'think someone with an Exige might be happy though (tenners in the usual brown envelope pls Ali.. )

Hi Chaps,

Where and when can I find out about the proposed changes for next year. I have done a few events this year (Golspie and Alford) and I wasn't really aware until later on in the season about the Highland Speed Championship. Where and how can I join it next year. Some of you may know me from this season (green and ali Caterham).

Hope you are all doing well.

Eric

Mail was only to get e-mail address of anybody who wants regs for next year's HSC. If any one else wants regs (and we don't have their e-mail) please e-mail me on jpandmo@yahoo.co.uk and we will add you to the list

I started this thread to canvass views and thank all who contributed. All points posted were discussed at the meeting, HOWEVER the regs have not been drafted yet and anomalies may be spotted at the review stage which may necessitate a complete re-think so best if we wait a bit

Sorry

Doing fine Graham, thanks for asking

Are you planning on doing more events next year, I hope so, its always good to get more cars in the class. For all the cost of entering the championship it is worthwhile, hope to see you at lots of events next year

Hi Murray,

Yes I am planning to do as many events as funds allow next year, however my first son was born 3 weeks ago so obviously my priorities may have to change slightly. I intend to build a trailer over the winter so I don't have to go borrowing one as I had to this year.
I really enjoyed my first year of sprinting and would recommend anyone thinking about giving it a try to just get out there and do it. It is such a different experience driving the car on the track against the clock where you can ligitimately go as fast as you can! It is a very addictive experience. Everyone I have met has been very helpful and encouraging and I am looking forward to getting the crack with you all next season.

For now though I will have to make do with this forum for keeping track with what you are all up to!

Graham.

PS. Murray I think the Striker is quick enough so please don't go modifying it too much over the winter months.

Can you reveal what is getting done or is it to remain under wraps until the first outing?

LSD already purchased and in process of being installed.
Cyl head being reworked, a bit of porting work, large valves and 'hairy' cams.

That is about as much as 'she who thinks she is being obeyed' has sanctioned

What about yourself, any plans for the car - sticky tyres are a must have.
