Private Sale Prep Service
Discussion
Hi folks, being forced to sell my 13 year old diesel due to Edinburgh LEZ restrictions.
Whilst fully serviced, there are a few light scrapes that have been picked up over the years.
Was wondering if anyone knows of any garages in Edinburgh or nearby that do sale preparation work. Due to the low value and age of the car I don't want to spend a fortune , just a cheap and cheerful job that will help the car look it's best. Got me thinking also if any garage offers a full prep service, e.g
Scrapes/valeting/wheel touch up etc specifically for private sales.
Grateful for any recommendations, (or any warnings 😉)
Cheers

Thanks but I have maybe downplayed the scratches. These need to be sprayed, most likely a touch of filler too. I just down want to spend a couple of grand when the car is probably worth only 4., sorry for not clarifying that,

These places will do a valet and machine polish sort of thing. Cheers

On a 4k car thats all that a dealership would do prep wise.
They are not bodyshops.
You wouldnt get the money back on the selling price that it would cost you to get a bodyshop to fix panels.
Hi, thanks, it's good to hear some views on this. WBSC are offering me 3.5, autotrader would suggest up to 6. I am therefore happy to pay a body shop 500 to give the two affected corners a light rub and spray to get it up to nearer the 6 mark (accepting that it's not going to be concourse by any manner of means. So basically a cheap and cheerful sprayer is what required

For a fairly inexpensive touch up, the van based / Chips Away guys can be pretty good? Though I'd agree, will a few hundred on paint be worth the investment come sale time at this level? Cars priced at the upper level of the market seems a tough sell. Selling cheaper but with "character" might see it away faster? Tough one to call.
