Hello all. I'm not sure if I should have posted this in the homes and gardens forum, but went for here since it's based on the local area (apologies if this needs to be moved!)

Anyway, does anyone have any recent experience with companies in Aberdeenshire that do driveway resurfacing works? I'm needing to get my existing driveway and area to rear of my house dug out (a mixture of old tar, concrete and aggregate in various places), kerbing and drainage chanels installed and then the whole area tarred.

I've had a few quotes already but am looking for any other recommendations before making a final decision, just to make sure I don't overlook any good companies.

Thanks in advance.
Ross

Deeside Road Construction did my tar but didn't quite get the levels right so a small amount of water pools instead of running off

Used them a few years ago for driveway work - tar, gravel and drainage.
Good professional service and no issues.

Thanks for feedback. I was also recommended them by someone at work, currently waiting for surveyor to call back to arrange to come to quote for the work.

I would recommend Pattern driveways and landscapes who do amazing work with concrete driveways and paths check them out
They came to Dumfries about 20 years ago and did our drive and paths , I assume they still go all aver the country so Aberdeenshire may be possible .

PatternPave is the trademark name for our company, Pattern Driveways and Landscapes (PDL). We are an independent Scottish specialist surfacing company based in Invergowrie near Dundee.

To counter wcel, I've used DRC and they did a cracking job. Couldn't fault the work they did on my drive. They don't advertise and are flat oot all by word of mouth. And having seen other jobs they've done, I would highly recommend them for any work like you want done.

We used John Duncan Plant Hire, all tarmac. That was about eight years ago now, no issues at all. We had it professionally cleaned and treated recently as we have a large tree on the street outside the house which dumps sap and leaves all over the drive, so it gets quite mossy, the chaps that came to do that job seemed to think it had been done to a high standard in the first place. It's the only driveway I've ever had so I'll have to take their word for it but certainly it's come up very nice now it's been cleaned and treated.

Thanks to everyone for their recommendations, I’m trying to line up a few more quotes before hopefully picking a contractor in next couple of weeks. Most companies seem to be very busy though and a couple haven’t even responded to say then can come out to give an estimate or not.

If you haven’t already contacted him, Paul (Sheltie) at PTM plant. He done my drive 3 years ago, blew every other quote out of the water and the job carried out was faultless.

Tony Young at Blacktop Paving did our drive a couple of years back. Complex job, some digging out, very steep and goes round a corner but two years in all is still good. He was significantly cheaper than the other quotes we got. Bathgate based but they go all over. Had been out in the western isles before coming to us in Perthshire.

Noted the comment above about having a tar drive treated? What does that entail? Wondering if we should be looking at that.

Essentially it was pressure washed and treated with some sort of biocide, then they came back a few weeks later and applied a couple of coats of something that's meant to restore the elasticity and appearance of new tarmac.

I think I did, but now you’ve reminded me, I don’t think they ever got back to me. I’m still waiting for DRC to come out and perform a survey, so will chase up PTM in the meantime.

Thanks.
