Ford Ecoboost Cambelt change Central Scotland
Discussion
Holy st, £1450 just to change the cambelt? WTF is it made of?
Unless there is something unique about that engine/car I'd expect you'll find any number of places able to do it far cheaper than that. Last car I had with a timing belt cost me I think about £250 to have it changed. Any competent mechanic should be able to change a belt.

It’s not a straightforward job on the EcoBoost - around 9 hours labour from memory, and special tools required.Unless there is something unique about that engine/car I'd expect you'll find any number of places able to do it far cheaper than that. Thanks all. Yes, seems a pretty labour intensive job to do due to the strange design where the belt actually runs through the engine oil. Hoping that I can get it done at a more reasonable. Given how many of these engines are out there you would think a number of independents would be able to offer a lower cost option

On the linked thread you will see we got the job done at an independent in Cumbria, both belts, water pump and sump cleaned. Fresh oil and filter all in at around £700. Gassing Station | Scotland | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
