BMW N57 main bearing, rod bearing and timing chain replaceme
Discussion
I've got a X3 35d and have seen a few cases of spun main bearings on these engines posted on various sites(N57 engine).
I really like my car and have no intention of selling in the next few years so with that in mind I may opt to have the bearings and timing chain done on the car as a preventive measure. Now I'm well aware this isn't likely a huge issue and most cars wouldn't be effected but depending on costs i would like the peace of mind.
Any recommendations for a specialist in Glasgow/Lanarkshire areas with a good reputation?

I wouldn’t worry about spun bearings and timing chain failures at all, the N57 is in hundreds and hundreds of vehicles and yes the internet says lots of things about them but catastrophic failures are hardly common and would surely show signs before failing eg chain noise or knocking.
As long as the EGR cooler has been recalled and service intervals have perhaps been halved then shouldn’t have to worry.
