Hi

I'll try keep this short.

We bought a house a few years ago on a very busy road - our choice I know this. Buying is all about pros and cons and the pro was a larger property in our price range con the road.

I've had a battle with the council the last 10 months as the vibrations from the road have got worse and our neighbours who've been here a lot longer agree. Recently a lot of areas around us have been completly resurfced - we believe that resurfacing our road would solve the problem. The council say there is no problem - my neighbours have even had the council guys in their home for 10 minutes but no vibration detected therefore there is no problem(no HGV's went by in that time !) .

Basically what I'm wanting to know is what type of building survey should I get if I want to check my property for potential problems that could be caused by HGV's on the road? The vibration from them is much worse than when we bought the property years ago and we want to make the council re surface the road. It was them that said get a structural engineer in.

When I google this in the area it just takes me to Estate Agents who offer Home Reports etc. Can a residential property owner get a full structural survey? Can anyone recommend anyone to me?

Any other info needed ask - don't want to bore people... the road is a 30mph but 2/3 of traffic ignore this and lorries go by at min 40/50 especially early morning and evening which cause the vibration.

Cheers
Baz
