I own a 2013 Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost Zetec which has done 50,000 miles.

I'm looking for a Ford specialist in Scotland to change the cambelt but struggling to find a garage that will take on the job.

I live in Fife and local Ford dealer has quoted me £1400 to do the job.

Is anyone aware of a Ford specialist in Scotland that have experience with these engines?

Do you need a specialist ?

Any decent garage should be able to do this type of work.

From what I've read online it's a pretty big job and requires expensive tools a garage won't normally have.

I've contacted 3 different local garages and they won't take on the job.

Just had to go check as I have a focus 2 litre turbo ecoboost ST but it has a chain drive so its not something I have to worry about.

Yeah, I think very latest EcoBoost engines have chain drive.

Most of the old ones have wet belt. That's what I've got and it's caused Ford so many problems.

Don't think he's a Ford specialist, but Scott at S&B Motorsport is a good mechanic and a decent guy. Might be worth a call?

We haven't done one yet but no doubt it will come, the odd few that we have been asked about we have turned away. I've seen some people say its easier to pull the engine out. Book time is around 9 hours and lots of bits need to come off, parts from Ford are around £250 off the top of my head. Given its a 10 year interval there are going to be a lot of them that are going to need to be changed

someone put a vid on youtube doing this without any special tools, looks like a fair ol job and others commented 15-1600 £ at a dealer

shows how the debris from the belt clogs the oil pick up

whats a 10 year old fiesta worth? must be borderline not worth doing

Its getting to the point where you might as well gamble, a 3k car with a 1.5k belt change is worth a punt. I don't think the belts fail, just clog up the pickup, so regular oil changes and the right 5w20 oil
