Head on crashes in the Highlands

Just a quick 'heads up'.
There have been several 'head on's in the Highlands in the last month... problem occurs when Jonnie Foriegner spends 20 mins on a single track road and when finally he returns to (a very quiet) two way road, defaults to driving on the right.
Two cars from my village had 'head on's in July - the last to a couple from Israel who were on the last day of a month holiday. Both write-offs but no deaths.
It's the single track that seems to lull them into a lack of concentration, as both crashes occured just after the one/two lane change.

Don't disagree, but the A9 doesn't help either, going from single to dual carridgeway and back. I've come across folks (and not johnny foreigner either) swanning along on the wrong side of the road a few mile after the dualed section; presumably outside-lane numpties who still think they're on the 'fast lane' of a dual carridgeway. Not seen a crash first hand due to this though, but have seen them pull over pretty smartish in the face of oncoming traffic.

PS the opposite also holds true too; have been flashed, tooted and waved at for 'overtaking on blind corners' on the dualled bit, where some folks lose the plot and think they're back on a single carridgeway!

Just been on Mull for a few days and witnessed some very poor use of single lane roads, though I was cycling.
the drive back from Oban last night was v.strange, mostly foreign plate cars doing 25-35mph in NSL sections then speeding up for 30 zones.
Made for a very frustrating drive and most cars I overtook failed to dip h/lights. So yes heed Getcarter's warning on these transitional roads at this time of year.

I have seen a foreign plated camper van go through traffic lights on the wrong side of the road in a busy Scottish village with people waving, tooting horns etc and the driver carried on regardless!
He carried on up the road on the wrong side too!
It is scary to think what may be round the next bend sometimes!

Many/most of the summertime accidents up here on Skye are head ons, caused by people forgetting which side of the road we are supposed to drive on. The police/ambulance services are getting tired of scraping up the bits. Please drive carefully, you could be doing nothing wrong but meet a large vehicle heading towards you as you go round a bend.
Coming home tonight I found my way blocked in the middle of Broadford by a motorhome sticking 5 feet into the carriageway because he couldn't get into afilling station. Bet he didn't even remember the length of his vehicle. Similarly, a spanish registered tour coach pulled (well actually failed to stop) out in front of me in Portree.
Still managed to pass my D1 licence today though, (suprised me a lot). Am now allowed to to the Postbus. Fares please!

I will be driving up your neck of the woods in January and it is a great part of the world. Don't want the risks magnified anymore than they need to be.
