I've managed to lose the locking wheel nut key for the wife's car (Jaguar XF estate). I tried the local Jag dealer today, they let me try every key from both their master sets but none was a match. I guess my only real option now is to somehow have them removed. I have replacement nuts to go on the car so not bothered if the existing lockers don't survive but I'd like to keep wheel damage to a minimum, same goes obviously for the wheel studs.

Anyone know of somewhere in or near Aberdeen that can do this as safely as possible?

Most garages have a tool to remove, try any tyre supplier, they are very common.

Try the local 16 year old Ned, he will have them off in a jiffy.

I had to remove mine from Merc, easily done in five minutes, made me realise they are a waste of time I did not bother putting locking nuts back on the car but my wheels are not desirable to the boy racers. Do not know how insurance company would look on it if your wheels were pinched though.

As already said.
Lockers are a waste of time.
Criminals laugh at them.
A smaller Socket, bashed on, will remove them without any damage to your wheel.
The Garage is the best bet for a £20 drink!
They do them daily!

I had this issue when the wee formation in the socket sheared off (the wheel nuts had been put on far, far too tight).

No doubt you are sorted by now, but Tawse Tyres in Inverurie we’re able to remove the locking wheel nut. Though I think a few of their guys may have developed hernias during the operation.

I’ve dispensed with locking wheel nuts altogether now

Not bothered with locking wheel bolts for more than 20 years.
Having seen the way tyre dealers & garages use air powered socket wrenches to tighten the locking bolts it's no surprise that they end up mangled & the key is no longer is capable of removing them.

Thanks all. I did get sorted in the end but via a somewhat unorthodox route. Tried a few local garages and tyre shops, after looking at the nuts nobody would touch them. I ended up finding a chap on one of the Jaguar forums, for a few pounds he sells a set of high-resolution photos of each of the 20 available locking nut keys, you then take a photo of one of the locking nuts, reverse it and rotate it and match up the key you need that way, then find one on ebay. That arrived today as it happens and I got a match first time.

I agree on the locking nuts as a concept though, I'd actually bought a fresh, full set of regular ones to replace all the nuts on the car as most were a bit tatty looking, including the lockers. Touch wood but I can't imagine there's a market for hooky Jaguar XF wheels - maybe if it was a Golf R or some Audi RS model etc. but hopefully we're below the radar of the local tea-leafs...
