Hi all, we’re coming up for a week in Edinburgh as per above dates September 11-17. We’re Fast Ford and Lotus fans so will go to the Knockhill Ford event on September 12, fortunate timing.
Any other car stuff on in the vicinity that week, museums, autojumbles etc?
We usually visit The Jim Clark Museum on the way home but will probably give it a miss this time.

I'm not sure on formal events happening, but I'm back in Edinburgh by then and if I can fit around work would be interested if any local PH members fancied a gathering, perhaps over towards the Forth Bridge for some good photos?

If you're fast Ford fans you'll be familiar with the engine in my V40, yep the 2.5! in this case running the factory 254hp, all stock for now but still a blast to drive.

Thanks for posting, my wife’s always happy to go to something like a car show or museum but probably not an informal meet up for car chat. It’s just fortunate the Knockhill event is on during our holiday! Hope you get some interest.

There's a couple of things but they all seem to be on the Sunday when you're planning to go to Knockhill - you should be able to search for more details on Facebook if interested.

- Cleanfest (Royal Highland Centre)
- Monthly Meet St Mirren Park August 2021 (St Mirren FC, hosted by Bill's Auto Detailing)

There's also Myreton Motor Museum out that direction, but what it's like... I don't know.

Its on the low end of the spectrum (and clashes with Knockhill) but it's worth a plug, we're racing Autograss at Avonbridge on Sunday.

Cheers all, by the time we’ve spent a day with my brother at St Andrew’s I reckon we’ll easily fill the week. By coincidence my brother in law mentioned the Air Museum yesterday so that’s a must.
Shame to miss the hill climb , we have to set off home early on the 18th.

It's been a few years since I have been but I really enjoyed it - not huge, and really just a number of big sheds crammed with old (but in good condition) cars, but very interesting I found and well worth a visit.

The Scottish Lotus group normally have meets every couple of months, but I had a quick look at TLF and couldn't see one coming up.

It’s been temporarily closed for a while unfortunately.

I was going to suggest the Autobahn Scotland breakfast meeting at the car park by the rail bridge in South Queensferry, but that’s on the 12th. There’s often a great selection of machinery at those events.

I’d wholeheartedly agree with the suggestion of Bo’ness Motor Museum. It isn’t huge, but it is absolutely jam packed with cars & interesting memorabilia. There’s a bit of a James Bond/TV theme to it. I was actually there last night at the Lotus Club meet up.

The aircraft museum at East Fortune is great too, another good shout!

There is also Dundee Museum of Transport. I'd tell you what it was like but the day I went it was closed due to covid cases in the staff. Looks decent from their website though

A lot of guys going to knockhill are going to the autobahn breakfast at South Queensferry first (0900) for a quick meet before heading onto knockhill.

I’ll be there in my red 458.

Here are some pics. Always a decent turnout . Use the link bow and scroll down for the last couple of breakfast meets. You’ll see me in there somewhere.

The Vintage Bus Museum at Lathalmond... driven past countless times but went in today with my little boy. Surprisingly nice afternoon, even as a non bus nerd. Staffed by a lovely bunch of people. Small human loved the guided tour of the site in a vintage double decker and was fair impressed with the train trip too. That and only 50p for a cup of tea. Loves a bargain.

Just to round this up, unfortunately we didn’t get to Knockhill due to arriving later than planned to our hotel on Saturday evening. Hope it was a good event, I’ve not seen any comments.
We had a great week sightseeing all the usual places without moving the car once, the only motoring stuff was the F1 cars and other stuff at The National Museum (brilliant place overall of course)
Everyone was very friendly and helpful, taxi drivers, bus tour drivers, hotel and restaurant staff.
Amarone(Italian) and Fishers in The City(seafood) were very good.
Next year we’ll arrive a day earlier and definitely get to Knockhill!
