Hi

Staying at St Andrews for a few days in August and fancy a day in Edinburgh
The train looks fastest and prob cheapest option having looked at the cost of parking

Thing is if I rock up at 10AM on a week day will I be able to actually park? or is it full of commuters cars first thing?

Ive looked at Google street view and the station looks a tad isolated with double yellows surrounding it

Many thanks

If I remember correctly, there's a shuttle bus from St Andrews bus station, takes less than 15 minutes.

Its a really scenic rail journey for most of the route too.

There is 2 car parks at leuchars now. Always lots of space.
As mentioned the 99 Dundee bus leaves from St Andrews and stops at Leuchars station every 15 minutes during the day.

Another alternative would be to drive to Cupar (next stop on the line) and park there.
I've never seen it more than half full, even pre-lockdown, and it cost £1 to park all day. Well, it did 18 months ago and I assume nothing has changed since then.

You'd have to make sure the train actually stopped in Cupar though as not all do whereas I think they all still stop at Leuchars.

Yes I nearly made that mistake once IIRC trains approx. on hour don't stop at Cupar
