I have a BMW X1 (F48) and live in Motherwell. Brother in law also has one and lives in Livingston.
We are both coming away from dealer servicing and looking for indies.

First question, is there anything “special” that would want to point me to a specialist indie rather than my usual indie guy that does the wife’s Beetle, son’s Polo etc? It’s first premium car I have ever owned so not sure if there is anything special when it comes to servicing? I assume oils pads shocks etc are all the same principle on any car? Or does it come down to diagnostics and laptops nowadays!
Is it only authorised dealers who can update the drive service info?

Finally, any feedback on Independent Mercedes &BMW Specialists who are based in Livingston? Seem to have a semi-current Facebook page?

I use M3 Motor Co between Dechmont and Bathgate. Knows his stuff and always has something interesting in his yard.

If you're looking at Livingston then there is also Klasse another couple of miles past. http://www.ksautomotive.co.uk/ Used them for my old BMW, the FB page is busy enough with regular updates too.

Highly recommend these guys. Left main dealer after I was told about them. Top notch outfit for Merc, Bmw and mini. Elaine, Colin and the team are brilliant and wouldn't let anyone else touch my C63 AMG now. They even sorted and welded up my TVR tuscan window wiper mech after they found out I was stuck.

I’ve used Deutschtek a few times for previous BMWs and an Audi. Good guys who know their stuff and all reasonably priced.

Just off the M8 at Charing Cross, Glasgow.

I hope they've improved then.

I used them to replace a radiator a couple of years ago, they left 1 headlight misaligned with a mounting bolt missing, the bumper wasn't refitted properly, and half the fasteners on my undertray were awol.

They weren't even cheap.
