In the spirit of the yesteryear threads on here anyone else frequent this place back in the 80s. At that time I had a flat in Woodlands Dr and the Raggy was the closest pub (among many). Being set in a basement and off the main drag of Gt Western Road it was much more of a local boozer than many of the west end pubs.

My routine when on earlies was to get home. Quick coffee. Catch a couple of hours sleep. Then head over to the Raggy for one of their pizzqs and a few pints. There was an Italian restaurant at the back but the pub at the front only seated about 20. Some great nights in that place. A very scruffy vibe. Casual. Popular with the TA crowd from the Signals in North Woodside Road.

It was packed every weekend and busy most nights. I seem to recall the manager killed it when he tried to move upmarket and banned jeans etc.

A quick google finds an image from the 70s. Still looked the same in the mid 80s before the great upmarket move disaster.

Remember taking a newish date there and ending up in the middle of a stag night, surprisingly she enjoyed the experience.
