We bought a used Jag XF estate from Arnold Clark Ford in Paisley, it was moved up to their click and collect place at the local Arnie Ford dealer. There are a few minor things needing sorted and the Ford place here can't look at it for another three weeks. They said that under their warranty we can take it to any Arnold Clark with a service center so the other local options are the Mercedes or Volvo dealers or the Motor Superstore on Lang Stracht.

I haven't called any of these yet to see if they can look at it any earlier, just wondering if anyone has any good or bad feedback on any of these, including the Ford place, with regards to standard of work etc.?

Even when it's a choice between two AC dealerships, I don't think you will find many on here recommending AC !
Thats shocking aftersales service, pretty much what you would expect from them.

Might help if you describe the type of work required - mechanical / bodywork repairs / electrical etc?

Hi, yeah I'm not very impressed either smile I realise it's not a great choice when you're faced with picking from one of a few AC places but it is what it is unfortunately. Just prior to this car we had a Mercedes M class which we bought as an approved-used car so had no choice but to use the local Arnold Clark Mercedes place for servicing and warranty work. They mostly did a reasonable enough job on that but I don't know if they'd be up to much working on a car from another brand.

For clarity, the issues are - sat-nav thinks the car is still in the Glasgow area (no GPS reception, probably the aerial), the aircon doesn't blow very cold, the USB socket for iPods etc. is broken and the engine start/stop doesn't work (probably needs one of the batteries replaced). In theory any reasonably competent garage shouldn't have any trouble with that lot I suppose.

The only one I've not had dealing with so far is the Volvo dealer. With first-hand knowledge of how useless the other two are I guess you'd be best to try them and pray.

Maybe as they are much newer the Arnold Clark culture won't have set in yet. I still doubt it.

Cheers for that, I may give them a shout. They've been part of Arnold Clark for some years now haven't they? Just they're in a new showroom etc. now.

The sales guys did say that if any of it turned out to be something Jaguar-specific that their techs can't sort out then the car would go to Jaguar to get resolved, although having first-hand experience of my own with them that doesn't fill me with warm, fuzzy feelings either.

I was forgetting the Volvo dealership was a relocation.

I've not had any experience of Jaguar other than going to see a F Type a couple of years back. It had been involved in a crash and repaired badly.

I didn't expect a car with such poor repairs for sale in their showroom.

A mate of mine popped his V90 into AC Volvo for some warranty work this week, and was pleased with the experience. My old man has put his Hyundai in for a couple of warranty claims, and was told each time that he'd damaged the car (after being kept waiting for 3 hours).

I'd vote for the Volvo branch. Good luck...

@Driver101 - that is very poor, even by my experience of their standards!

@S2red - unfortunately yes it is out of manufacturer warranty, the car is a 14 plate so 6.5 years old.

@downthepub - thanks for that, will give them a call in the morning smile
