Edinburgh: Where to park a van, city centre...
Discussion
Tedious post, I apologise but tomorrow afternoon I've an appointment around Laurieston Way / George Heriot direction which I'll be doing whilst travelling through the city, east to west. To add to the challenge, I'll be in a LWB van.
So that means 'normal' car parks are out so hoping somebody with some local knowledge could suggest somewhere to park it for a couple of hours. Happy to walk the final mile or so and if needs must, I'd get on a bus. Had debated the train in from Newcraighall (can I park a van there?) then walk from Waverley but that doesn't lend itself well to onwards travel west after. Park and a black can in is also doable.
Taking the car isn't viable and not sure I'd get away with writing DPD on the side and abandoning it even though that seems acceptable. Quiet side streets with no restrictions perhaps or a car park with no height restrictions or bays that'll it'll hang out of by about 8ft.
Cheers

Park at the Park and ride at the airport and jump on a tram, its cheap - car park free and the tram return cheap as chips job jobbed.
get in early thou as it fills up fast.
Thanks, though I had a look at the respective websites but no mention of height and / or length restrictions?get in early thou as it fills up fast.
maybe a bit last minute, but a few options i would consider:
- new town pay and display bays. it’s expensive (£4 for 45mins ish) thinking abercromby place down towards great king street. there are always long wheel based vans parked up doing jobs in the area. price is expensive tho, but for a few hours maybe not the worst.
- bonnington road- half way between new town/ leith. but it’s free on street parking round about bonnington road (thinking ‘biscuit factory’ area). loads of spots to park and can jump on a bus/ taxi up town.
