You're the best!

I've just returned from two weeks in Scotland, based in Alyth, near Dundee. My first visit and I just wanted to say that everything I've read on PH about Scotland and its drivers is true! The roads away from the cities are largely free of traffic and there are some epic winding A and B roads. But more than that, you guys can really drive. Hardly ever was I held up by some dawdler doing 40 on a 60 limited road and when I was I'm pretty sure it was a fellow tourist. People in fairly ordinary cars were really making progress!! Also, how refreshing to drive at 30 through villages and not have an Audi/BMW/Merc right up your arse! You guys are very respectful in 30 and 40 limited areas. People overtake when they can and there are no horns, flashed lights or two fingered salutes. Finally, how refreshing to not be tailgated when you're "making progress". People generally sit back and give you a bit of room.
As soon as I got back "down south" yesterday (I live near Bournemouth) I realised how bloody selfish and awful the driving is in England, particularly from Birmingham downwards!!
So I just wanted to express my thanks to all the local drivers who made my driving around Scotland on my holiday such a pleasure. Cheers everyone,

Glad you enjoyed it. I live in Aberdeen, if you'd said that's where you'd been I'd have assumed your post was entirely sarcastic as that all sounds pretty standard for around here...
Ha, I did actually visit Aberdeen one day and it was quite a busy place, but not as bad as the South Coast where I'm from (try getting around Bournemouth and Poole in the summer months, awash with holiday makers and the 350,000 residents). No, my post was not intended to be sarcastic in the slightest, I was genuinely shocked at how much better the driving was in your area than back home. Was reminded of this morning actually, in a long queue of cars being held up on an A road by a Ford Focus that couldn't get within 20 miles of the National Speed limit, traffic density and the frequency of corners preventing any of us overtaking the snail up ahead...!!
