SWMBO in one of her better moments decided to see if the wall was stronger than the bumper of my beloved CRV - only a few months before I intend to trade in for a newbie. I'm just outside Edinburgh (Port Seton) and looking for a good bodyshop to repair (she's paying!). Or should I leave it and just take the hit at trade-in time?

All help appreciated. Thanks.

I used Stewart Roden in Winchburgh recently and they were absoluetly top notch!

Really nice bunch too, really friendly and keen and won't let you leave unless you're totally happy with the work.

Is that by any chance the same Stuart Roden that used to race in Formula Ford?

I have had work done their before (insurance claim) and the paintwork was OK, although the refit of bodywork could have been better.
Very friendly and helpful folk though.

There did seem to be race memorabilia in reception and indications that race teams were, or had been, part of the set up.

Kirkton and Innes from Dalkeith used to be the go to people around Edinburgh for a perfect job. I think they are now called K&I but I don't know if they're still as good. I last used them about 25 years ago so the original people have probably moved on by now.

Yes, and he ended up running Scuderia Ecosse in British GT and at Le Mans. I get my car serviced there and have also had bodywork done, high quality work

Peter at Prestige Car Bodies has done excellent work for me twice in the last few years (repainting the bonnet on my old asbo orange Focus ST and undersealing my Mustang), and he's literally within walking distance of you - Whin Park Industrial Estate as you leave the village heading for the Pans on the Coast Road.

Slight change of topic as not helping but has anyone GRM Bodycraft Ltd? They are based out in Telferton near Portobello. I'm looking at getting paint done on a silver car and very nervous about matching! I understand silver is tricky.

Clydesdale Classic Cars
A few Months ago and after a few recommendations, (none of them would tell me how much they paid) I decided to visit them and subsequently use them for the repairs to my Car.

My 2003 Mx-5 (Mk 2.5) needed 2 rear section Sills and 2 rear half Wheel Arch Panels, I was impressed by their Workshop and 20 odd Staff Members, who seemed to do a quality job, I was asked by the owner and his Son if I had a budget and they commended me for having a total budget of 4-5k, but still wouldn't give me a quote, they explained that they couldn't quote in case they found any hidden defects, they said their Men put a timesheet in every week and that would be converted to my weekly invoices.

I put my trust in them and it backfired, the invoices started coming in and I was getting more worried every week, I felt locked into it, especially as each week I received a text to say they would not continue with any work until that weeks invoice was paid in full. My total for the fabrication work only, was £6631.84 for 114.75 hours work, at this point I was really feeling sick for allowing this to happen to me.

They then sent a quote for the paint work required, that came to £6720.00.(inc vat) I decided to remove my Car and go elsewhere.
As it was completely stripped down, Seats out, Softop off, Wings off etc I had to have it low loaded to another Paintshop.

So NO, I definitely could not recommend this place.
