I have two old brake discs and part of an exhaust in the garage which I need to get rid of. The exhaust comprises twin pipes about 6ft in length with two small silencers in the middle. No idea of the weight of any of the items. Is this at all likely to be worth anything if I take it to a scrap metal place? If so, anywhere decent in Aberdeen area?
If not then I'll just take it to the local recycling place, just thought I'd see if there was a couple of quid in it first...

Thanks for that. I don't tend to accumulate scrap metal all that quickly (despite owning a Jag, before anyone else says it) so I'll just pop down with what I have next time I get a chance and see if I get a few quid. I'd never thought of taking batteries there though, always just dropped them off at the local WasteAware place, will bear that in mind - thanks again.
i had a clearout a couple of years ago - some old scrap metal, a cantilever toolbox and a pinto block. I was going to go to the council tip but as I passed Bands in Perth I thought I might as well go in there. I came out £14 richer. Not a lot but better than nothing, and better in my pocket than the councils.
+1 for Panda Rosa, behind the Manchurian Chinese restaurant. They pay you by bank transfer and if I recall correctly they needed photo ID to set me up, all fairly painless though. I learned the hard way that aluminium cylinder heads and the like will attract the bog standard mild steel rate if you don't strip off the valves, cams etc. And as you'd expect for a scrap merchant, it's a rough arsed place.
