Hi

Looking to get my alloys refurbished near Edinburgh (ideally South of, in Midlothian).

They’re mostly fine 17” alloys but peeling. Car has TPMS sensors, and I want new tyres fitted rather than refit the old ones.

Any recommendations?

Thanks
Gareth

I've used The Wheel Specialist at South Gyle a couple of times. Once to repair a badly kerbed alloy and the other to refurbish and paint four steel wheels, along with fitting new tyres I supplied. I was very pleased with the work and price.

I've used them as well, last year.
Very good job on a very tattie looking old alloy.

Have used these guys for years and can thoroughly recommend. I've had them do multiple sets of car and motorbike alloys.

I've used both companies mentioned in here at different times.

To sum up:

The Wheel Specialist
Pros: Excellent finish, car can be dropped off and picked up same day, they can colour code any centre badges
Cons: Expensive (relatively) - was £360 for 4x 18" in anthracite

Pentland Powdercoating
Pros: Cheaper (£180 for 4x 17"), work with RAL codes so touch ups easy to source, local
Cons: Old school hours (8-4 Mon-Fri), cannot leave car with them, need to remove alloys and deliver/pick up, finish not quite as good as TWS but decent enough UPDATE: Just looked at Pentland website and they offer same day service now and courtesy car!

I'd use both again, depending on the vehicle and cost would depend on which one at the time.

Thanks chaps.

Went with Pentland Powder coating in the end. Supplied courtesy car and completed work by 2pm same day.

TPMS sensors could not be removed so were cut out (I knew there was a chance of this) and they have agreed to fit the new sensors for gratis, to me this is good customer service.

There is some imperfections around the valve stems in the finish but in keeping with the price and my expectations. So very happy overall.
