Without wanting to turn this in to Dadsnet, looking for some recommendations for toddler friendly things to see and do for a few days on Skye around the Easter break. Been doing the usual Google searching and found the likes of the soft play centre at Aros and swimming at the Fingal Centre in Portree but that's about it as far as wet weather activities go unless anybody knows of more and also child friendly places to eat too? Not adverse to getting wet and muddy, neither is he but sadly he's not big enough to go scuba diving and the like. We'll be based in the North West but happy to drive / explore. Been to Skye a few times but this will be the first in full blown Dad mode!

Cheers

Find a beach. Give him a bucket and spade or a fishing net for rock pools. Job done

What, and let him muscle in on my fun?

Hell no!

We'll be fine if the weather is good / fair / not storm force but just trying to build up a plan B list of indoor stuff in case it's not.

Sadly my first trip there with the missus saw some rather appalling weather all weekend and whilst I saw it as a good reason to get her out those wet clothes, instead it just made her unwell and bad tempered.

Hence, having a back up plan this time will be beneficial especially with a small person in tow.

Canny beach at Applecross on the mainland and Gairloch.
On Skye there' s a nice beach up on the NW near Stein, actually coral not sand.

Boat trip out of Elgol. The Canna trip is really interesting, chance of whales etc

Easter is a bit early to go feeding the midgies but you'll probably be able to enjoy queuing for fuel at the Coop in Broadford.....

Cheers,

I do like Applecross and given it was one of the first places me and the now Mrs Davie went when dating, it was on the cards to go and have lunch but given it's the easter weekend it'd probably be a slow drive and a very busy pub, which is a shame as the beach to the north is great. On that note, we'll probably stay on Skye for the duration and try and avoid human contact, so refuelling en route and taking plenty tins of beans in a vain attempt to avoid having to visit a shop. Current problem is that it has finally dawned on Mrs Davie that a 6.5hr trip according to Google plus toddler and the necessary stops means we won't be leaving here around 10 and be up there for an evening meal... most definitely not if we involve a ferry in the proceedings.
