Bad parking dent - new mini rear door :(
Discussion
My wife came back to her 6 month old Mini Cooper in Chili Red in the Stonehaven Co-op car park last week to be met with a very nasty door ding down her rear door. A few light scratches but also a nasty sharp dent which can't be fixed properly by dent removal alone....looks like a bodyshop repair and repaint will be needed to bring back to her best again.
Not sure what to do, only have a £200 excess but insurance want me to use Ashgrove Motorbody - not that keen on them from what i've heard, and don't really want the increased premiums if we claim. Any suggestions on sensibly-priced quality repair in the area?

The issue is you've already notified your insurance company of this incident. It might still be counted against you even if you don't claim. You aren't forced to use the repairer that your insurance company wants you to.

ok thanks folks. Did read somewhere you don't have to use the insurance's choice of repairer...will broach that if i decide to go down that route. Didn't think it would impact on premium so long as a claim wasn't made?
Anyway tried local dent repair, made it better but it's a repair and repaint required. As the car is only 6 months old would probably prefer to go to an approved Mini 'shop.

I think there's often a higher excess if you choose to use a repairer other than the one the insurer wants you to use?Anyway tried local dent repair, made it better but it's a repair and repaint required. As the car is only 6 months old would probably prefer to go to an approved Mini 'shop.
