I have one of the cars concerned and it wasn't me, honest guv, despite living within that jurisdiction. Spose there is a chance of being pulled within the next few days given the car etc.

Don't admit to it then! You'r profile also says your nickname and if that's correct i've worked out which car was yours pretty easily!

Haha calm it. I’ve said it wasn’t me and could easily prove the same. Can’t see these boys escaping jail, assuming they’re caught.

Don't worry about me, i'm calm. Also saw you said a similar thing in the longer running thread which was after i'd posted the above. Thought i'd go and edit the above and then thought nah, no point.

If they do get caught i too can see them in the big house for a while fwiw.

Be interested in the legalities of this - do the police have it on video or speed gun? If not where is the proof?

Read an update earlier that they had been up north and driving badly as well

Stuff like this always makes me wonder how, in a world of almost endless CCTV, it's so difficult to find these cars. You'd think that if they were spotted at X time on Y motorway, checking CCTV along the route / service stations wouldn't be too difficult. Is it just a case of a lack of resources or more just an exercise in public relations that the public seem to be the ones being relied on to provide information? And then what, unless clocked using an "official" method then would it even get to court and / or stick? Just seems quite remarkable that four very distinctive cars can simply vanish and despite getting the models, even going as far as saying it was a GT3... nobody got a plate? Same applies to stolen cars, remarkable how a bright blue RS whatever can simply vanish unseen...

I suspect that the police already know exactly who was driving each of the cars, and they are looking for additional evidence of poor driving via dashcam footage so that the drivers can be charged with mutliple offences, potentially leading to a custodial sentence.

I was wondering if they were spotted but need "proof" to convict hence the media reports fishing for evidence

Considering they now appear to have been travelling from north of Scotland south into England there must be hundreds of cameras they have appeared in as well as passing numerous safety cameras and I suspect hotels will be being asked did these cars visit you?

No sympathy at all for them

I'm by no means a hand wringer who preaches that we need to think of the children and I'm sure we've all been a bit quick / stupid / caught up in the moment but to consistently drive at pace in a distinctive convoy is asking for trouble and to be running at those sort of figures as a pack in the middle of the day is a bit mental to be honest... hard to argue your way out of that one, clearly wasn't an isolated moment of madness so yes, would struggle to find sympathy more for the fact that this sort of publicity isn't good for the future of the likes of the NC500 and Scottish roads in general. Can see it being clamped down on fairly aggressively in the not too distant future, just too many idiots treating it like a personal race track and that won't still well with the majority.

Having lived in Irvine for a while, I understand why they would be leaving at such a speed...

If I was intending on doing that(and if I could afford a GT3 or similar) I'd remove my plates. It's not a points offence, and at the speeds quoted. quite the least of my worries.
