Heading to Scotland with some pals in a few weeks and considering hiring a car whilst I am up there. Others are driving themselves, but I fancy treating myself / not piling on unnecessary miles onto my supremely-comfortable but ultimately dull-as-dishwater Volvo V90 PCH lease.
It's the week before August bank holiday, which I appreciate is two weeks away, and probably mental busy, so I have left it rather late but wondering what suggestions people have at the eleventh hour that might be worth checking out / putting an enquiry into?
After something interesting, in my mind convertible (as I've never owned one, but cognisant of the midges) and something at least mildly interesting. <£1k for a week (pick up Mon afternoon drop of lunchtime-ish Sunday) if I can help it... most Caterhams seem to be just over unfortunately.
We're heading straight for Glen Coe so our route will take us round Glasgow along the M8. Suggestions welcome, as is being told I am asking for the moon on a stick.

Thrifty keep some nice cars. Just about all the M cars are an option and the Jaguar F Type is also listed.
Prices are sensitive to what location you pick them up. The M2 is £650 from Aberdeen or Edinburgh, but £950 from Glasgow.
The other M cars and the F Type can be either side of £1000.
