Good garage in Aberdeen
Discussion
I normally do most work on my car (2008 XKR) myself but I've got an oil leak coming from something inside the bell housing so the gearbox is going to have to come off and I think that's likely to be too big a job for me to do on my driveway. For reasons I won't go into (partly labour costs but also past experience) I'm not keen to use the local Jaguar dealer. Couple of folk I spoke to said they weren't keen because they'd be tied up on the one job for a full couple of days or so potentially. Looking for suggestions on somewhere competent and thorough that won't be put off by a bigger job like this...

Jag specialist above sounds good but I believe Clark motorsport are meant to be pretty clued up with gearboxes.
Clark Motorsport don't have the garage business any more, that was sold to Jim Reid who operates the garage as Reidline Performance. I haven't used them for much since they changed hands as I've heard mixed reports.duka said:

Sorry - meant to say CunninghamOld Davie (sadly no longer with us) & Young Davie (must be about 70 now), what they don't know about Jaguars ain't worth knowing. The used to be down beside Pittodrie, had been for years, but not sure if still around?

There is a yard behind a locked door that a few old Jags are always kept. There is an old looking unit there too. I didn't think It was a real garage though. It's right next to AW Autotech and has an old Jag on Street view.

That is / was it. Probably retired now. I'm someone will be along shortly who knows.
Aha right. I had been told about him before when I was asking about Jaguar specialists in the area. Apparently he was never keen to work on "modern" cars like mine, anything from the start of the V8 era on was off his radar.Driver101 said:

Many years later, was down there for some reason and saw a V12 Jag that I'd worked on as an apprentice, had the registration number VRG1. It used to belong to the couple that owned Alexanders furniture shop in Rosemount, was a lovely thing.
Walked by there a couple weeks back, and as Driver101 says, there were a few Jags kicking about again. Might be worth checking out.
