great western road speed camera

got a speeding letter through the post was half expecting it as i remember getting flashed but at the time thought it must be for another vehicle pulling out at the opposite crossing.
how accurate are they and is there any hope of contesting it?
i had to stop at the lighst as they turned red.. as i drove off when they had turned green i saw the flash behind me.... i dont imagine i could have gotten up to 41mph from the stop line to the final white line but apperently they have photos 3 in total.
my car is slightly out of align so i kn ow im not fast off the mark..

Which camera is it? There's a few in Gt Western Rd and the ones I'm thinking of are in 30mph sections.how accurate are they and is there any hope of contesting it?

Slightly off topic, but is it me or are BEAR nuts.
On the A90 as you leave Aberdeen heading south on the Stonehaven Road, the dual carriageway goes from 40 to NSL.
A bit further up the road as you approach a junction on the left, about 10 meters before it they are errecting one of those ginormous electronic signs.
So as your nipping up that road at 70 approaching a junction I would have thought it stupid to errect an illuminated sign which could distract drivers eyes from the junction.
Just past the junction is a Shell garage, over the years there has been some accidents of drivers pulling out, and cars not seeing them, so now we have another distraction in the making.
