What shows are on at these spots? Any links?
Moffat is a 2 day show with a run out on the Saturday and a static display on the Sunday 18/19 June
Glamis Castle Scottish Transport Extravaganza a static display show Sunday 8July
Errol Motor show again static display Sunday 10th June
Thirlestane Castle again a static display with Sporting Bears doing ride outs this is possibly the largest show in Scotland for classic and modern Sunday 3June
Selkirk the borders show again well attended mostly vintage classic Sunday not sure dates in Sept
Kames is run by East Ayrshire car club a static show not a big show Sunday 10 June
I go to these shows with the TIPEC Porsche owners but you can enter as a single entry owner there is a book come out every Jan /feb listing all the classic vintage show.
Do a Google for shows ,there are loads I have not listed .
Braehead Arena Erskine Classic Sat 28 July Boness hill climb and run sat /sun 1/2 Sept
TT meets the last Sunday of every Month .Hope this helps and there are many other meets around too many in some cases as dated clash .
I've been meaning to go to Thirlestane Castle for years. How is the traffic management around the event - is it likely to involve sitting for hours to get in and out, or is it ok? Getting in and out of Knockhill during a popular event is a complete pain, and I'm guessing Thirlestane might be similar?
It can be a bit slow on entry a lot depends which end you approach from once through the main gates can take approx. 15 mins to get onto your club stands .Exit is a pain as they take you out the back gate and it is along a rough dusty track on a dry day you car is covered in dust by the end off it ,if you wait till after 5 ish you can get out the same way you came in but again a good 15 min wait. The road back towards the Edinburgh by pass is slow process to get to as lots off trailers and slow cars not many passing bits of dual and once you hit the bypass another 20 mins to get towards Glasgow M8 .So not the easiest show to get to from the west coast for me a round trip off around 200+miles .Hope it hasn't put you off as lots of nice cars to see and loads of stalls .

Thanks for that, sounds about what I was imagining. Getting down to Thirlestane itself shouldn't be too bad for me as I'd be coming from East Lothian, so I'd only be on the A68 from Pathhead. But a 15 minute wait isn't too bad, it took well over an hour to get out of Knockhill after the BTCC last year! Thanks very much for that woodysnr - sounds good.
I sit in the modern car camp so not sure if the shows you initially mentioned would be appropriate? I do like the sound of a run out one day and then a static show the next.
Yes, been to TT many times - always a great selection of cars. It seems it's gotten too big though, who'd have thought it?!
