Need to get a set of 20" wheels sorted out, some minor kerbing, one slight buckle and fresh powdercoating required. I'm aware of Rimtech, Customised Coatings and The Wheel Specialist but never used any of them. Anyone got any experience with these or anyone else within reasonable distance of Aberdeen?

I've heard good things about Customised Coatings, that's where I'm going to use in the near future.

Had a bad experience with the Wheel Specialist at Dyce - a few weeks after getting the wheels refurbed, the car developed a puncture. When my local tyre place took the tyre off the rim, they found the inner bead badly damaged - which could only have been done when fitting. Went back to the Wheel Specialist to complain, and they said it was a rogue employee, now gone, and they were aware of the issue as a few people had had the same problem.

Why the hell they didn't think it necessary to contact everyone affected on such a safety-critical issue I have no idea. It was the missus car, she dealt with them and I can't remember if she got a refund for the tyre out of them or not, it was a couple of years ago. NSF tyre as well, and I sometimes give the car a bit of stick on roundabouts. If the tyre had failed...

Needless to say I haven't used them since

I'd second that. https://www.facebook.com/CustomisedCoatingsltd

Had a few sets done there and they look great and the finish has been very durable over the last two winters. As it happens, first time round I actually went to them via the Wheel Specialist and I would say Customised Coatings finish is a better and a lot cheaper. Great customer service too. Only downside is they're a little out the way, but will collect wheels from around Aberdeen\Aberdeenshire.

I've also used PPS in Inverurie and again good finish, but not great. More than acceptable, unless you have severe OCD like I do. Only problem with them is you need to supply the wheels stripped.

I have used Wheel Specialist, a few years back, happy with their work and negotiated on price. Finish has lasted well.

Custom Coatings have been recommended to me twice recently for a planned refurb this year. There is also a company in Carnoustie that has been recommended to me, but that may be too far.

Do PPS not have arrangement with Tawse for tyre removal/fitting now?

I had a set done by The Wheel Specialist. They were absolutely dreadful. I raised the complaint the instant I walked into the office as I had already looked at my car parked outside.

The owner couldn't have cared less. So what was his attitude.

The receptionist agreed they'd get them redone at a later date. They were being difficult and wouldn't accommodate me for a return visit. Luckily I hadn't paid.

I've seen far too many complaints about them to allow them a second chance.

Thanks all, some useful insight there. Sort of looking like Customised seem to be the one to go for at the moment then.
