Tyre fitting, Aberdeen area
Discussion
As above - where's decent and reasonably priced? The wheels in question are 20" on the wife's M class. I'm assuming I'll be sourcing the tyres online unless there's somewhere competitive locally but to date I've yet to find anywhere that's not been significantly more expensive than the online places.
I have used Laws in Altens and Costco and both managed to work with silly low profile 19" RFTs without damaging the rim - not sure what else you want from a tyre fitter.
If it looks like a dodgy outfit, it probably is, but with massive rims and low profile tyres, I suppose there is always a risk of damage, even at the best places.

I've used a place in Altens a few times, they've never damaged rims but if the wheels are going straight back on the car then they seem to like using an airgun to do them up to like 5,000Nm torque, even if asked not to. I've had to get them to refit tyres twice now because the bead isn't sealed right or the valve was duff, hence looking for somewhere else. Prices weren't bad though. If it looks like a dodgy outfit, it probably is, but with massive rims and low profile tyres, I suppose there is always a risk of damage, even at the best places.
Laws want £25 per corner for fitting and balancing which seems a bit steep to me? Costco only seem to offer one make and model of tyre in the size we need and it's way more expensive than the ones we're after but maybe they have more in store than the website suggests so I'll give them a shout, thanks.
Thanks for suggesting Motorwerks James, I'll try him too. Does he supply and fit or just fit?

If I had a set of wheels that needed particular care when mounting tyres then the above gets my vote.
They were competitive when I bought tyres from them too.

Costco have been good for me, beating online prices by a margin on the tyres for my Cayman and Mark the manager there is very helpful. They photographed my wheels before and after the work to prove no damage which I liked. They only do a couple of brands of tyre but prices are good, especially when they have an offer on - usually twice a year.
