Maybe be hoping for the best but wondering if there are any glasgow or former glasgow students around these parts.

I will be going moving to glasgow to study in august and looking for a place to stay. I dont know too many people in the city so was looking to live in student halls for my first year to meet people etc despite being a couple years older than the fresh faced 18 year olds.

I will be studying at the new city of glasgow of college for the first year which is pretty much located next to strathclyde uni but the college's halls are located near their old campus which was south of the river and a fair distance away so was looking at private halls.

Can anyone recommend some decent private halls near strathclyde uni or within somewhat walking distance and any other tips/advice.

Your Uni accommodation office should know all this. Failing that, get in contact with the student union there, and they should be able to point you in the right direction. I know at Leeds Uni, the union collate feedback and reviews of landlords, houses, halls etc. Even with a brand new university, I imagine most of the accommodation will be the same anyway.

I've never been to uni or stayed in halls but I do work next to a few of them. There are a few new ones being thrown up at the moment which look pretty decent, not sure on the cost though.

For Strathclyde, the ones in St James House look really good but also really expensive.

The new one going up right next to my work is Dobbies point, probably aimed more at Cali Uni but easy walking distance to Strathy too.

And another brand new one which is next to work is the Foundry Courtyard.

That's about all the help I can offer I'm afraid.

Collegelands close to Strathclyde Uni. Some of my son's mates were there for 1st yr in Strathclyde, apparently quite good.
