Brake caliper refurb / paint help in Edinburgh / Fife
Discussion
I'm collecting a Range Rover Sport (2014) this coming week however, the calipers have unfortunately been painted lime green
Does anyone have any recommendations where I could drop the car off to have them re-painted? I know there are plenty of places that you can post them but I'd prefer to drop the car off and whilst I've done a number of google searches it's difficult verifying where is good.
I'd prefer not to get them powder coated.
Ideally in the Edinburgh / Fife area please.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Billy, I've found the place you're talking about (Elite body work) and send them a message.
I've also found AutoTech (near the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh) who have quoted me £100 for all 4 and JRM Coachworks who have quoted me £360 for all 4.
Is it just a case of you get what you pay for and I should go to JRM?
Land Rover have quoted me £450 for the work.
Has anyone used, Elite, AutoTech or JRM?

I guess it depends on the finish you desire?
Could be argued that you could whip the wheels off, grab a paint brush and got at them with some black smooth finish Hammerite or they could be removed, stripped, media blasted, primed and coated in a lovely finish then reassembled with new components.
Some of the "£50 special" establishments seem to fall in to the quick rub back, mask and spray category so guess it is a case of getting what you pay for and how long said paint would last is open to debate too.
I usually remove the calipers, strip them back but not removing the piston, mask up then wire wheel / Dremel etc back to clean metal, etch primer then a couple of coats of Smoothrite and rebuild. Seems to last very well, her car is a year on and they're still looking good... upside it, you can also do the back plates, the non-friction part of the discs / bells and various other bits. Probably takes an hour per corner, ish.
Quite a satisfying job too.
