I've looked and just can't find the answer I'm after, thought I'd ask PH.

Travelling from Fife to Heysham next week to catch the ferry for the TT.

as I'm never really over the Glasgow side but am aware of the roadworks around the M8/M74 Strathclyde Countyry Park area.

Whats the update on that area heading South? There were restrictions on it one way at one point.

Need to be through there approx 6.30am, fairly slick and heading South.

thanks

Can't comment first hand on the current situation but I went through a couple of weeks back at the same sort of time and it was plain sailing... other option is cut off at Livingston then West Calder, cut up through Forth then down through Carstairs to Abington and back on the 74 south.

If you're going dead early I can't see you having any problems. I often do Fife to Glasgow and the surrounding bits and there should barely be any traffic at that time.

Doesn't say from your post whether you'd be passing through at 6:30 on a weekday or Sat/Sun - if on a weekday, it should be OK (though I once ended up in a horrendous jam from Larkhall to Abington at 5am because a dumper truck was being moved on a low-loader - impossible to overtake on the 2 lane section). If it's a weekend, then there's all sorts of random closures that can run any time from Friday night to Monday morning - these change every week, so best to look at http://trafficscotland.org/ for the current plan a couple of days before you leave.

EDIT - I think these are the documents you need to look at - https://www.transport.gov.scot/traffic-update/m74-... - looks like the only thing on for the next few days is works between Maryville & Raith taking the road down to 1 lane overnight.
This one is a bit more worrying - https://www.transport.gov.scot/traffic-update/m73-... - total closure south of Baillieston on Friday night then from Saturday night to Monday morning
