Ah the council that has taken 10 years (and ongoing) to sort out the bypass and over 20 years to finally give Aberdeen Airport decent opening times to support the errrr oil capital of Europe/city.

OK being cynical here and it would be great to see this happen but I think the councilors would probably oppose it as they are a bunch of narrow minded unimaginative individuals. Then again the Provost is a car buff and a bit of a TVR fan I hear !!!

seems a good plan, and if they mention the word 'tourism' when trying to push it through, then it'll probably walk through.

it would be fun.

I have a route in mind which would be a lap from Castlegate (outside court), up Union street, along Union terrace, down front of HMT, left down to St Andrews St, up past the Loch Street car park, left then past the college, round the Mounthooly roundabout (drift club!), down past Safeway then up King street back to Castlegate.

I quite fancy attempting that route in a vauxhall powered MK2 Escort! I think one would be 'busy' behind the wheel!

(i do realise they want to use Torry)

Wasn't there a proposal a few years back to use the disused roads off the side of the esplanade, at the North end.? If i remember correctly, that got knocked on the head by the council as well.

The spectator stages at the Exy Centre a few years back on the Friday night were quite good viewing.

I think you are right and with the drive to close the bouley at nightime to the maxpower brigade I should imagine the idea of racing through the granite city would be seen as giving out the wrong message.

But fingers crossed
